Ex-Leeds United youngster makes Blackpool FC contract admission as time for big decisions approach

Blackpool have several players who are out of contract this summer.

Olly Casey states his main focus is on Blackpool’s remaining two league games – and admits talks over his future will take care of themselves once the season has concluded.

The centre back is among the Seasiders who are out of contract this season, but an option is available to extend his stay at Bloomfield Road by a further 12 months.

Casey made the move to the Fylde Coast from Leeds United back in 2021, and has since made 139 appearances for the club.

In the last two seasons in particular, the 25-year-old has established himself as a key defensive figure in Tangerine.

When asked about his contract situation, Casey responded: “We’ll get through these last few games and I’m sure it’ll take care of itself. I’ll let my agent deal with all of that and see what happens.”

Who could leave Blackpool this summer?

Several other players are in the same boat as Casey this summer, while others will need to negotiate new terms if their time with Blackpool is to be extended.

Here’s a look at those who are out of contract:

Bailey Peacock-Farrell

Bailey Peacock-Farrell initially joined the Seasiders on loan from Birmingham City last summer, but following the mutual termination of his contract at St. Andrew’s in January, he penned a short-term deal at Bloomfield Road until the end of the season.

Andy Lyons (Option available)

Andy Lyons has been with Blackpool since 2023. Across the last few years, the defender has had his fair share of battles on the sidelines, which includes a 14 month absence following an ACL injury in February 2024.

There is an option available for the 25-year-old, who will be looking to get his career back on track after a frustrating time.

Ashley Fletcher (Option available)

There is also a one-year option for Ashley Fletcher – who has been the Seasiders’ standout player this season, with 21 goals coming his way in all competitions.

The striker had struggled at several clubs before moving to the Fylde Coast in 2024, but has certainly looked comfortable in Tangerine.

Albie Morgan (Option available)

Albie Morgan, who joined Blackpool from Charlton Athletic in 2023, has missed the majority of the current season due to injury, but has demonstrated in the past the quality he can bring to the midfield.

Like the majority of others on this list, there is an option to keep the 26-year-old for an additional 12 months.

CJ Hamilton

CJ Hamilton has been at Bloomfield Road since 2020, and has featured 229 times for the Seasiders – with his most recent outing being as captain.

Negotiations will need to take place with the winger if his stay in Tangerine is to be extended.

James Husband (Option available)

James Husband is another long serving member of the current Blackpool squad, and has made 236 appearances since his initial loan move to the Fylde Coast in 2019.

There is an option to keep the 32-year-old for a further 12 months.

Ryan Finnigan (Option available)

Ryan Finnigan has never really been able to get an extended run of games under his belt since joining the Seasiders in January 2024.

The midfielder was able to impress on loan with Walsall in the first half of the current campaign, but an injury stopped him from breaking into Evatt’s team after being recalled in January.

There is an option to keep the ex-Southampton man in Tangerine for a further year.

Kylian Kouassi (Option available)

Kylian Kouassi has been out on loan with Cambridge United this season, but has been hindered by injury.

There is an option for Blackpool to keep the striker for a further 12 months.
