Everton icon left absolutely furious as he brands two signings a “complete waste of money” after Arsenal defeat

Everton icon Duncan Ferguson did not hold back in a blistering critique following the Toffees’ 2–0 defeat against Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium, demanding that attacking duo Brennan Johnson and Thierno Barry be shown the door as soon as the January transfer window opens.

First-half and second-half goals from Ezri Konsa and Gabriel Magalhães condemned Everton to a comfortable loss, but it was the toothless performance in attack that enraged Ferguson. Both Johnson and Barry started upfront in David Moyes’ front line, yet neither managed to test David Raya, leaving the Blues completely devoid of threat throughout the 90 minutes.
Speaking after the final whistle, Ferguson tore into the pair’s lack of hunger and output, labelling their signings a complete waste of money for the football club.

”I’ve seen enough—get rid of them both in January, simple as that,” Ferguson fumed. “Brennan Johnson and Thierno Barry are nowhere near the standard required to wear an Everton shirt. When you come to places like the Emirates, you need players who are going to fight, hold the ball up, and put their bodies on the line. They drifted through the entire match without making an impact. They look like a total waste of money and aren’t good enough for us.”
Johnson was hooked in the 72nd minute after failing to register a single shot or meaningful contribution, while Barry completed the full match without creating a clear chance against Arsenal’s backline.
For Ferguson, the performance was the final straw. With the winter window fast approaching, the Everton legend believes the board must cut their losses immediately and bring in forward players who possess the grit and quality needed to lead the line for the Toffees.
