Supercomputer Predicts Full 2026-27 Premier League Table

A Supercomputer has updated its prediction for the final 2026-27 Premier League table following the opening months of the new season.

Reigning champions Arsenal have picked up where they left off last season, winning seven of their opening eight fixtures.

Many were tipping Xabi Alonso’s Chelsea to challenge at the top of the table this season with no European football to contend with, but defeats to Arsenal, Brentford and Tottenham, plus a home draw with Hull, suggests the Blues may not be quite ready just yet.

Man City were the only team to get seven wins from seven before losing their eighth game to Aston Villa. However, the club’s future is firmly up in the air after being found guilty of breaking the Premier League’s financial regulations. They remain in the title race for now, after launching an appeal, but it’s currently unclear where they’ll be at the end of the season.

Amid the enormous controversy that threatens to cast a shadow over this season’s Premier League campaign, Opta’s Supercomputer has updated its predicted final 2026-27 table – and it makes for fascinating reading. Let’s take a closer look.

Sunderland have had a difficult start to the season after surprising everyone in their first campaign back in the top-flight. The Black Cats are currently expected to finish second bottom of the table after picking up five points from their opening eight fixtures.

Just above them are Crystal Palace. Palace’s relegation odds have increased after they were hammered 5-0 by rivals Brighton and then beaten 2-0 by Newcastle United – results which have reportedly left their manager Pierre Sage fighting for his job.

Coventry City are tipped to finish rock bottom and join Sunderland and Crystal Palace in the Championship next season. Frank Lampard has already sealed two wins as Coventry boss this term, so they’ll be aiming to prove Opta’s Supercomputer wrong over the coming weeks and months.

Nottingham Forest narrowly avoided relegation last campaign, and it appears they are in another relegation battle this time round. Oliver Glasner’s side will pick up 43 points and survive by the skin of their teeth, according to the Supercomputer.

Fulham are on the up under Alvaro Arbeloa. The Cottagers earned encouraging draws against Liverpool and Manchester United before the international break, and have since picked up back-to-back wins against Hull City and Coventry. A nervy 16th place finish is being predicted for the west London outfit.

Hull weren’t given a chance before a ball was kicked this season, but they currently occupy 10th spot in the real Premier League table. A drop-down to 15th would still represent a successful campaign.

Position Club Points
15. Hull City 43
16. Fulham 43
17. Nottingham Forest 43
18. Crystal Palace 42
19. Sunderland 40
20. Coventry City 39

Bottom Half

Ipswich Town were expected to struggle on their return to the Premier League. After three wins from their opening eight matches, Gary O’Neil’s side are predicted to end the season in a respectable 14th.

Many pundits and fans alike have tipped Manchester United to finish inside the top four again this season, but the Supercomputer has the Red Devils down in 13th place following a nightmare start to the campaign. Michael Carrick’s only league win so far this season came against Ipswich in August.

Another season of mid-table obscurity beckons for Everton. Following back-to-back defeats against Chelsea and Arsenal, the Supercomputer predicts they will finish 12th.

Tottenham have picked up nine points from their opening eight league fixtures, leaving them 12th place. Opta’s Supercomputer has seen enough evidence to suggest Spurs should finish comfortably in mid-table. An 11th-placed finish would still be a poor campaign based on the club’s huge summer expenditure.

Position Club Points
11. Tottenham Hotspur 49
12. Everton 49
13. Manchester United 48
14. Ipswich Town 44

Top Half

Newcastle United have looked okay under Matthias Jaissle despite some heavy defeats. They are expected to finish the season in 10th place, which would be a reasonable achievement following such a turbulent summer at St James’ Park.

Daniel Farke’s Leeds United are expected to surpass expectations and finish a place higher in ninth.

Bournemouth started the season slowly under new manager Marco Rose, but they have hit their stride in recent weeks, beating Sunderland and then thumping Man United 3-0 at Old Trafford. The Supercomputer thinks they’ll finish the season in eighth, matching their finish from last campaign.

Keith Andrews and Brentford continue to defy the odds. They are being tipped to end the season in seventh – their highest ever finish in England’s top tier – following a fine start to the campaign.

Chelsea are expected to finish sixth with 57 points following a defeat to Tottenham. The Blues’ front three of Joao Pedro, Cole Palmer and Morgan Rogers has the potential to become the most formidable forward line in the league.

Aston Villa had a disastrous start to the season after three defeats in their first four games. But Unai Emery’s team now have 11 points on the board and are finally clicking into gear.

Position Club Points
5. Aston Villa 58
6. Chelsea 57
7. Brentford 52
8. Bournemouth 51
9. Leeds United 50
10. Newcastle United 49

Top Four

Erling Haaland (Man City)

Brighton are currently tipped to finish fourth after a mightily impressive start to the campaign. No team has scored more goals (23) than the Seagulls, who are well and truly flying.

Liverpool are third in the predicted table following impressive wins against Brentford and Brighton. There’s plenty of work for Andoni Iraola to do at Anfield this season, but having Alexander Isak, who has six goals in seven games, back will certainly help.

Under-fire Manchester City boast an impressive seven wins from eight games without Pep Guardiola in the Premier League. The Citizens look almost unstoppable under Enzo Maresca, with Erling Haaland and Rayan Cherki flying, although the guilty verdict threatens to derail their season.

Every away ground is expected to become incredibly hostile towards the eight-time Premier League champions, who will need to adopt a siege mentality in order to finish as high up the table as possible. Opta’s Supercomputer currently believes City will push Arsenal right to the wire, although that prediction could completely change depending on the result of the appeal.

Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal remain the Supercomputer’s narrow favourites to lift the Premier League trophy. The Gunners are now tipped to finish the campaign just five points above Erling Haaland and co.

Position Club Points
1. Arsenal 80
2. Manchester City 75
3. Liverpool 64
4. Brighton 63

Data is correct as of 26/10/2026.
