Forest have to focus on the Premier League, but Pereira also won’t want to just forfeit the Europa League given the prize on offer at the end of the competition.

Now, on the eve of the first leg against Midtjylland, it’s been announced that Forest have made an adjustment to their squad.

Nottingham Forest add Matz Sels to Europa League squad

Stefan Ortega played between the posts against Fenerbahce and made two excellent saves in the away game to make sure Forest won 3-0.

However, he’s now collected a calf problem, and that has allowed Forest to reinstate Sels to the squad, allowing him to play against Midtjylland this week and next.

Sels has been the number one goalkeeper at the City Ground for two years now, and he made some crucial stops in the draw against Manchester City last week.

Now, Sels and Angus Gunn will be the two goalkeepers in the matchday squad, with youngster Keehan Willows also likely to be on the bench for the Reds this week.

Pereira has big decision to make

If Ortega is working his way back to full fitness, Pereira will have a decision to make over his goalkeepers.

Sels is solid but has always struggled with his commanding of the area, whilst Ortega also has the edge over him when it comes to playing out from the back.

Pereira has to try and establish from here which goalkeeper will be his number one stopper, and it could well be that Ortega plays in the Premier League and Sels in Europe.

One way or another, this is yet another decision for Pereira to make, but one thing is certain that Sels will start between the posts against Midtjylland this week!
