Martin O’Neill insists Celtic still need several summer signings despite the impending arrival of Camilo Duran.
O’Neill confirmed that a deal for the Qarabag forward is to be completed pending a medical.
Duran is set to join up with his new teammates in Portugal later this week.
“Tim [Williamson], our physio, has gone down to meet up with him and I think that that’s going to happen,” O’Neill said. “I think that he should join us in Portugal, certainly in the next 24 hours.
“He’s still very young. What he can do is hold up play. I think he’s strong in that department. I do think that he will be a good addition. Famous last words.”
Pressed on the potential for further arrivals, O’Neill added: “Absolutely. We have been making inroads into it, like everything else. Sometimes you get thwarted with things.”
Elsewhere, Yang Hyun-jun has been named as one of three overage players in South Korea’s Asian Games squad.
The tournament is due to take place from September through to October, meaning the winger, who signed a new contract with Celtic at the end of last season, will be unavailable for his club during said period.
“We might have to miss him for a number of weeks, but so be it. We knew that before we extended his contract,” O’Neill concluded.
