Newcastle United have been kept up to date by England medics after Lewis Hall missed training at St George’s Park today.

Hall is United’s only representative in Thomas Tuchel’s UEFA Nations League autumn training camp ahead of games with Spain, with the World Cup winners visiting Wembley on Saturday night, Czechia and Croatia in the three-week international break. The former Chelsea youngster had been called up by Tuchel along with Tino Livramento last week before the Toon right-back pulled out with a muscle issue.

Fears that Hall will join him and be sent back have been played down by the FA today, however, who say the Newcastle man’s injury is “minor”.

An FA statement read: “23 players are out training at St George’s Park this afternoon. Lewis Hall sits out this session while the group are joined by U19 Young Lions Kaden Braithwaite and Malachi Hardy.”

Speaking on injuries before his squad broke up, Matthias Jaissle had said: “After this international window. We hope, we pray, and we’re optimistic. That’s the only thing at the moment in this situation, what we can do.

“We count on the medical department that we’re getting the players back as soon as possible.”

And reflecting on Livramento’s withdrawal with England, Jaissle said: “He suffered with some discomfort in the morning after yesterday’s (Friday’s) training.

“He will have a MRI scan but nothing more from my side on this.

“It’s a concern. For me as a coach, it is definitely a concern and we will start from tomorrow morning to reflect on that.

“Hopefully, after the break we will have some lads back.”
