Emma Raducanu has faced a tough season marked by multiple injuries, limiting her time on the court. Her latest setback occurred during the Asian Swing, but the British star is now on the mend and shared an exciting update about her return to action. In a video message, Raducanu expressed her enthusiasm for competing in the Hong Kong Open, set to begin on October 28, marking her first appearance at the tournament.
In the video, Raducanu said, “Hello everyone, it’s Emma Raducanu here. I really cannot wait to come and play the Prudential Women’s Hong Kong Open. It’s my first time playing the WTA event there, but I was there in December last year and I really loved the city.” She reiterated her excitement and desire to compete, signaling her determination to return to form.

Her last appearance on the court was at the Korea Open, where she injured her foot during a match against Daria Kasatkina, forcing her to withdraw. This foot ligament sprain added to a series of injuries Raducanu has faced this season, including a back injury that sidelined her earlier this year, and wrist and ankle surgeries from last season. These challenges caused her to miss key events like the China Open and the Wuhan Open during the Asian Swing.
Despite these setbacks, Raducanu remains focused on staying healthy and building momentum. Earlier this season, she rose from a ranking of No. 285 to No. 56, after making her return at the Nottingham Open. She had expressed her desire to stay injury-free and play as many matches as possible to improve her game. After a grueling three-hour match at the Korea Open against Peyton Stearns, Raducanu said, “As long as I’m healthy, I’m going to try and finish the season and play as many matches as I can.”
As she prepares for the Hong Kong Open, Raducanu’s priority is to remain injury-free and climb back up the rankings. After a challenging season, she is ready to make a strong comeback and hopes to regain the form that made her a tennis sensation.
