Alan Shearer Couldn’t Hold Back as He Hails Newcastle’s Underrated Star after Stunning international display

After the international break is done and dusted, Newcastle will still get an extra couple of days to recover, with their game being switched to a Monday night against Coventry City at the Coventry Building Society Arena.

The recovery time, which will stretch past the three-week mark, means a host of stars will be ready to return.

And it means Jaissle may have to make two or three brutal calls as he returns to full strength. Dan Burn, Amar Dedic, Anthony Elanga, Nico Gonzalez, Ewen Jaouen, Joelinton, Tino Livramento, William Osula and Jacob Ramsey all missed the clash with Hull City before the internationals.

But a clutch of them are due to come back in time for Coventry, meaning changes could be afoot despite that slender win over Hull. Here’s Jaissle’s three biggest calls to make for the encounter with the Sky Blues.

It remains to be seen whether Joelinton will start his comeback on the bench or not after missing the entire start to the domestic campaign because of a muscle injury. But the ex-Hoffenheim man appears ready to kickstart his campaign in October.

It was Joe Willock and Sean Steur who were used in the holding midfield roles against the Tigers, with the Dutch youngster getting man of the match and Willock scoring his third of the season.

Jaissle could tweak his formation to accommodate Joelinton, but if the Brazilian walks back in at the expense of Steur or Willock, it would be a major call.

Matias Fernandez-Pardo and Yoane Wissa have been leading the line in the absence of Denmark international William Osula.

The ex-Sheffield United man is due back after not appearing since August with a foot injury when he came off against Liverpool in the 2-2 draw. Osula’s speed and strength would be big for Jaissle, but could that bring an end to Fernandez-Pardo’s run in the team from the start?

It’s a big call but Osula’s height and Premier League know-how could be the difference between winning and losing at Coventry.

Sven Botman’s form has been up and down since the season kicked off, and he is occupying the preferred position of club captain Dan Burn.

England international Burn, at 34, is hardly the type of player who will be content or useful starting games on the bench. But axing Botman would also be a big shout for Jaissle, with some fans divided on his form.

He was all over the place against Leeds, but did well for parts of the clash with Hull, however, this is 6ft 7in Burn coming back and bringing experience and leadership to the table for a crucial game at Coventry. Again whether Jaissle can accomodate both with a formation tweak remains to be seen but he has stuck with 4-2-3-1 at the start of his tenure.
