Newcastle United braced for fresh Sandro Tonali bid as Serie A giants plot move

However, once this window is out of the way, Howe may well want to start planning ahead and looking for a replacement for Sandro Tonali.

Juventus set to go for Sandro Tonali
According to a report from Sky Sports Italy, Juventus are plotting another move for Tonali, but it’s thought they will wait until June before they swoop.
Apparently, it’s all part of a grand plan for the next two transfer windows for the Italian giants. In January, Juventus intend to sign West Ham’s Guido Rodriguez on loan so they can save funds for Tonali in the summer.
It’s said Luciano Spalletti is keen to add midfielders to his squad, particularly playmakers. It would seem Rodriguez is the short-term fix for that, with Tonali considered the ultimate long-term target.
The report adds that Tonali will definitely be staying at Newcastle in the new year. That’s a relief, given reports suggested Tonali could leave on loan next month. Beyond that, though, it remains to be seen whether he will want to return to his homeland.

Just a couple of weeks ago, fans were concerned Tonali’s form had taken a dip. Eddie Howe claimed that was down to fatigue, and it does seem the Italian midfielder is back to his best now.
Even just in a brief substitute appearance in the win over Fulham in the Carabao Cup, Tonali was sublime and looked like he had finally unlocked his creative side once more.
Finding the right balance in midfield has been a real struggle for Howe this season, but there’s no denying that, on his day, Tonali is one of the first names on the teamsheet.
It would seem the main midfield target for Newcastle is Kees Smit. The Dutchman is going to cost a pretty penny, but with time to plan and save, and money from Tonali’s potential sale, it’s definitely doable.
