Everton striker Beto has emerged as a potential transfer target for Nottingham Forest.

It has been a relatively quiet start to the summer window for the Reds. So far, midfielder Xaver Schlager is the only new face added to the club’s ranks.

Further business is expected, though, as Forest look to strengthen new head coach Oliver Glasner’s squad. Centre-back Ousmane Diomande is expected to join from Sporting Lisbon while a second bid is said to have been submitted for Feyenoord full-back Givairo Read.

According to the Daily Mail, Toffees forward Beto is on the club’s radar. The Reds are said to be “weighing (up) a move” for the 28-year-old.

Beto joined Everton on a four-year deal in the summer of 2023. Forest’s Premier League rivals paid a reported €30 million (£25.6m) fee to secure his services from Udinese.

Since then, the Guinea-Bissau international has made 111 appearances and bagged 25 goals for the Merseyside outfit.

Last season, Igor Jesus was the Reds’ main man up front while Chris Wood was sidelined for a significant period. The Brazilian found the net 16 times in total, including on seven occasions in the Europa League.

The Premier League proved a tougher nut to crack for Jesus. He seemed more comfortable operating in a No.10 role when Wood returned from a serious knee injury.

Glasner also has Taiwo Awoniyi and Arnaud Kalimuendo still on the books. The latter is wanted by Eintracht Frankfurt on a permanent basis after he spent the second half of last term on loan in Germany.

On the matter of potential transfer business, Glasner said after his team’s 3-0 pre-season friendly victory over Blackburn Rovers on Wednesday: “I don’t want to talk about what we are discussing internally. I already think the prices are a little bit crazy sometimes, and it makes it even more expensive if you talk about names or positions.

“We have a great scouting department and we talk about profiles that could help and that we probably don’t have in the formation. If it’s possible to add it, if we find it and it makes sense to do it then we will try to finalise it. We are all very ambitious. We will see.”
