Newcastle United have released an official statement regarding Tino Livramento.

This follows media reports from the United States claiming the United defender had picked up an injury.

The official Newcastle United statement confirming that this is indeed the case.

The club reporting that Tino Livramento: ‘Picked up a minor calf injury in training with the Three Lions on Sunday afternoon. A subsequent scan and medical assessment on Monday unfortunately confirmed he could play no further part in England’s tournament.’

Newcastle United confirming that the versatile full-back who can play both on the right and left, has now pulled out of the England squad and is returning to Tyneside.

The club stating that: ‘Tino Livramento will continue his rehabilitation with the Magpies’ medical team.’

Chelsea central defender Trevoh Chalobah has been called up in Tino Livramento’s place.

England kick off their Group L campaign against Croatia at the Dallas Stadium on Wednesday at 9pm (UK time). Dan Burn remains part of Thomas Tuchel’s squad.

England then play on Tuesday (23 June) against Ghana, then the final Group L match on Saturday 27 June against Panama.
