Newcastle fans demand two players are dropped after 3/10 and 4/10 horror shows in Everton defeat as they’re labelled the worst performers on the pitch

Newcastle United supporters have been left fuming after their side suffered a disappointing 3-1 Carabao Cup defeat to Everton, with two players attracting particularly harsh criticism following performances that left plenty to be desired. Despite dominating possession and creating numerous opportunities, the Magpies were unable to prevent their opponents from securing a comfortable victory, and the post-match player ratings have only added to the frustration.

🚨 The biggest talking points have centred around Harvey Barnes and William Osula, who both received 4/10 ratings from GOAL, while Jacob Ramsey was handed an equally disappointing score. All three struggled to make a meaningful impact before being substituted at half-time, leaving Newcastle supporters questioning whether they deserve to retain their places in the starting XI.

Three Newcastle Stars Fail to Deliver

Newcastle started the encounter with attacking ambition but gradually allowed Everton to take control of the contest.

James Garner opened the scoring in the 34th minute before Hayden Hackney doubled the hosts’ advantage just before half-time. The Magpies were already facing an uphill battle, and their struggles in the opening 45 minutes forced manager Matthias Jaissle into a major tactical response.

Harvey Barnes, William Osula and Jacob Ramsey were all withdrawn at the interval following largely ineffective first-half performances.

Barnes received a 4/10 rating after failing to influence proceedings from the left flank. Despite being expected to provide attacking creativity and directness, the winger struggled to produce meaningful contributions and failed to register a significant attempt on goal or successful take-on.

Osula also received 4/10 after finding himself largely isolated in attack. The young forward struggled to hold up possession under pressure and offered little threat against Everton’s defensive pairing.

Ramsey, meanwhile, was handed a 4/10 after an anonymous first-half display. The midfielder failed to dictate the tempo or provide the creativity Newcastle needed to break down Everton’s defensive organisation.

For a team expected to challenge for silverware, having three players struggle so badly in the same half will undoubtedly raise questions.

Newcastle Fans Have Every Reason to Be Frustrated

Perhaps the most frustrating aspect of Newcastle’s defeat was that they were not completely outplayed.

The Magpies enjoyed 56% possession and registered significantly more attempts than Everton, but their territorial dominance counted for very little when it mattered.

Their defensive mistakes proved costly, while their inability to convert opportunities into goals allowed Everton to punish them at the other end.

Jordan Pickford also deserves considerable credit, producing nine saves to frustrate Newcastle’s attacking players.

The second half brought some improvement following the triple substitution, with Anthony Elanga, Yoane Wissa and Joelinton introduced to change the momentum.

However, Thierno Barry’s 69th-minute strike effectively ended Newcastle’s hopes of mounting a comeback.

Dan Burn eventually pulled one back in the 88th minute, but it was nothing more than a consolation.

Jaissle Faces Questions Over His Starting XI

The defeat will undoubtedly leave Jaissle with plenty to consider ahead of Newcastle’s next fixture.

His decision to withdraw three players at half-time demonstrated his dissatisfaction with the opening performance, but it also raises questions about whether some members of his starting XI have done enough to justify keeping their places.

Barnes and Osula, in particular, will need to respond positively after receiving disappointing assessments.

Newcastle cannot afford to continue wasting opportunities, especially when their opponents are demonstrating far greater efficiency in front of goal.

The Carabao Cup exit is another setback for a club with ambitions of competing for major honours, and supporters will expect a much stronger response.

For Newcastle fans, the biggest concern is no longer just the defeat itself. It is the number of players who failed to turn up when the team needed them most.
