Nottingham Forest player’s future takes new turn – Shock move follows managerial change

Nottingham Forest forward Jota Silva now looks set for another move away from the club, with fresh claims from Portugal suggesting he is on the verge of joining Olympiacos.
Portuguese journalist Sebastião Sousa-Pinto reports the Greek side have reached an agreement with Nottingham Forest for a loan deal that includes an option to buy.
According to the claim, Jota Silva has also given the green light to the move, leaving the transfer waiting only for the final formalities.
If completed, it would see the 26-year-old spend a second consecutive season away from the City Ground after last year’s loan spell at Besiktas.
Situation has changed
The latest development comes a few weeks after Jota Silva spoke optimistically about returning to Nottingham Forest for pre-season following his spell in Turkey.
Speaking to Record, the winger said: “I will report for duty and do everything possible to have a great season individually and collectively, whether at Nottingham or another club I represent.”
While he acknowledged another move could still happen, his comments suggested he was ready to compete for a place if he remained at Forest.
That represented a different stance from last summer, when concerns over playing time encouraged him to pursue a move to Sporting.
Forest eventually reached an agreement with the Portuguese club, but the transfer famously collapsed after the registration paperwork missed the deadline by a reported single minute.
Managerial change alters outlook
Also, Vítor Pereira was believed to be an admirer of Jota Silva, and his departure may have altered the player’s prospects. With Oliver Glasner replacing him, Forest could have decided the winger no longer fits the new manager’s plans.
And of course the move would also keep Jota Silva within Evangelos Marinakis’ multi-club network.
So if Sousa-Pinto’s information proves accurate, the Portuguese attacker will continue his career in Greece, with Olympiacos securing him on loan and holding an option to make the move permanent.
