Supercomputer Predicts 2026-27 Premier League Table
A supercomputer has updated its prediction for the final 2026-27 Premier League table following the opening weeknd of the new season.
Reigning champions Arsenal kick-started the campaign with a convincing 3-0 win over Coventry City on Friday night, before Manchester United suffered a shock 2-0 defeat to promoted Hull City on Saturday lunchtime.
Elsewhere, Manchester City came from behind to beat Bournemouth 2-1 in Enzo Maresca’s first Premier League match in charge of the Citizens, and Liverpool snatched a point away at Newcastle United thanks to a last-gasp penalty.
The opening weekend’s fixtures have prompted Opta’s Supercomputer to update its predicted final 2026-27 table – and it makes for fascinating reading. Let’s take a closer look…
Relegation Zone
Coventry City, who won the Championship title last season, had the toughest possible start to the season: Arsenal away. All things considered, a 3-0 defeat at the Emirates Stadium wasn’t a disaster. Far easier matches (on paper, at least) are coming up for Frank Lampard’s side, but the Supercomputer still has them finishing the season inside the relegation zone.
The Supercomputer has Sunderland finishing rock bottom of the table following their concerning 2-1 defeat away at promoted Ipswich Town who, like Hull City, have shown they’ll be no pushovers this season.
Despite their impressive win over Man Utd, Hull are expected to finish 18th in the league table. Just above them are Nottingham Forest, who suffered a 1-0 defeat at home to Leeds United on Saturday.
It’s interesting that all the teams in the bottom section of the predicted table have an expected points return of 40 points or higher – which is often seen as the benchmark for securing Premier League survival. If correct, the 2026-27 Premier League campaign will be the most competitive we’ve ever seen.
Meanwhile, Crystal Palace are down to 15th place in the predicted table following their 2-0 defeat away at Everton. Fulham face Chelsea on Monday evening.

Bottom Half
Tottenham were being tipped for a much-improved season after revamping their squad with a host of big-name arrivals including Sandro Tonali and Mateus Fernandes. However, Roberto De Zerbi’s side were torn apart by Brentford, who secured a 3-0 win in their 2026-27 opener. Spurs subsequently fall from eighth to 11th place in the Supercomputer’s predicted Premier League table.
Just behind them are Leeds United, who sealed all three points at Forest’s City Ground thanks to Anton Stach. Bournemouth were minutes away from a famous away win over Man City but conceded two late goals. The Cherries still have plenty to be positive about, though, and are tipped to finish 13th as things stand.
Meanwhile, Ipswich were predicted to finish the season in 19th place but have shot up to 14th after their home win against Sunderland.

Top Half
Many pundits and fans alike have tipped Manchester United to finish inside the top four again this season, but the Supercomputer has the Red Devils down in sixth place following their surprise defeat against Hull City. Michael Carrick’s side must bounce back with a win over Ipswich Town on August 30 to get their season back on track.
It’s Brighton who occupy top spot in the real Premier League table after their emphatic 4-0 win over Aston Villa on Sunday. The Seagulls are now backed to finish the 2026-27 season in fifth place, while Villa drop to seventh.

Top Four
Manchester City left it late but scored two goals in the final six minutes to seal a dramatic 2-1 win over Bournemouth. It was a decent start to the post-Pep Guardiola era, although whether they can seriously challenge favourites Arsenal this term is the big question.
Mikel Arteta’s side made light work of Coventry City and the Supercomputer is backing them to retain the Premier League trophy at the end of the season.
Chelsea are expected to finish fourth ahead of their opening match against Fulham, while Liverpool remain third in the predicted table after snatching a point away at St. James’ Park.
