Emma Raducanu’s tough season continues as she has been forced to withdraw from the Hong Kong Open due to her recurring injury issues. The British tennis star had recently been optimistic about competing in the WTA 250 event, even recording a video expressing her excitement about playing in Hong Kong.
However, her plans have been derailed following a foot injury sustained during the Korea Open in mid-October, where she retired mid-match against Daria Kasatkina after spraining her ligaments.
This injury has kept Raducanu out of several important tournaments in Asia, including the Beijing, Wuhan, Ningbo, and Guangzhou events. Despite initial hopes that she would recover in time for the Hong Kong Open, it’s now confirmed that she will miss this tournament, effectively ending her WTA season for 2024.

Despite this setback, Raducanu may still have a chance to compete in the Billie Jean King Cup Finals, set to take place in Malaga from November 13-20, where she is slated to represent Great Britain. The Hong Kong Open also faced another blow with Naomi Osaka’s withdrawal, adding to the disappointment for fans and organizers. Raducanu’s injury troubles have been a recurring theme throughout 2023, but her focus will likely shift to recovery and preparing for the next season.
