Emma Raducanu has confirmed her return from injury and will compete in the Hong Kong Tennis Open this month. The 2021 US Open champion has been sidelined since suffering a foot ligament injury at the Korea Open, which forced her to withdraw from a match against Daria Kasatkina and miss subsequent events, including the China Open.
Initially, Raducanu had hoped to return for the Ningbo Open but was also ruled out of that event, sparking concerns about the severity of her injury. However, the 21-year-old has now shared a video message on social media, announcing her participation in Hong Kong, starting on October 28.
In her message, Raducanu expressed excitement, saying, “I really cannot wait to come and play the Prudential Women’s Hong Kong Open. It’s my first time playing the WTA event there, but I was in Hong Kong last December and I really loved the city.” She added that she is looking forward to playing at the Victoria Park Tennis Stadium and hopes to see fans there.

Top players like Danielle Collins, the tournament’s top seed, and defending champion Leylah Fernandez are also confirmed to participate, with Raducanu’s fellow Brit, Katie Boulter, seeded fifth.
The WTA 250 tournament could provide crucial match practice for Raducanu ahead of the Billie Jean King Cup finals, which begin on November 13 in Spain. Great Britain will face Germany in the first round. Raducanu has struggled with injuries and form since her US Open triumph in 2021, but she showed flashes of her talent at Wimbledon this year, where she reached the last 16.
