Jamie Carragher loves ‘sensational’ Nottingham Forest star, puts him in top Premier League bracket

Jamie Carragher has waxed lyrical about a Nottingham Forest star and sees him as one of the best players in his position the Premier League has ever seen.
The Reds beat Aston Villa 2-1 on Saturday with Oliver Glasner continuing his fine run over Unai Emery.
Did Forest get lucky with this tackle from James McAtee on Ian Maatsen? 👀
Former PL referee Mark Clattenburg thinks so…
New signing Liam Delap got off the mark, whilst Forest fans raved about Ousmane Diomande, who made his full debut with aplomb.
It was another new player who caught the eye of Carragher, however, with Daniel Munoz coming in for his first start as the Reds faced Villa.
Jamie Carragher ‘loves’ Daniel Munoz
Forest were linked with a host of right-sided wing-backs in the summer, but Forest stood firm and got Glasner’s top target.
Munoz has been with Glasner every step of the way at Crystal Palace, as they won the FA Cup, UEFA Conference League, and Community Shield with the Eagles.
Carragher has suggested that Munoz is actually the best right wing-back the Premier League has ever seen and raved about the Forest star on Monday Night Football.
He said: “When we talk about (Daniel) Munoz, we’re going to look at his numbers from the weekend. So, distance he covers, the progressive passes, all of these metrics, he’s right up at the top.
“Now, I said it’s so difficult to get a top-quality wing-back because very few teams play with them, but when you think of teams in this country who have been successful with three at the back or five at the back, we always go back to (Antonio) Conte at Chelsea, and I always think you need at least one specialist. Alonso was the specialist in that team, the best left wing-back we’ve seen in the Premier League.
“The other team we think about with the three at the back is Crystal Palace with Glasner and the success they’ve had over the last two or three years and they had this guy, the best right wing-back that we’ve seen in the Premier League, he’s absolutely sensational, I love him to bits.”
Daniel Munoz stats vs Aston Villa
Munoz already feels like a bit of a steal for the Reds at £20 million, potentially rising to £22 million.
The player, although not considered young, has bags of Premier League experience and has already proved a plug-and-play option for the Reds.
The statistics prove that he completely bossed the game against Villa on Saturday, and his link-up play with Morgan Gibbs-White was something very special.
| Metric | Total | Match Rank |
| Distance Covered | 11.8km | 1st |
| Progressive Passes | 9 | 1st |
| Defensive Line-Breaking Passes | 5 | 2nd |
| Chances Created | 4 | 2nd |
| Successful Final Third Passes | 14 | 3rd |
| Tackles | 4 | 3rd |
| Aerial Duels Won | 3 | 3rd |
There will be bigger tests defensively for Munoz than what a transitional Villa test provided, but there is absolutely no reason why he can’t stand up to those challenges.
Thankfully, Forest showcased a meticulous approach to the transfer market by waiting for Munoz, and this already feels like a masterstroke from Glasner’s perspective.
