Winger Jota Silva looks set to be allowed to leave Nottingham Forest after his loan spell with Besiktas

Nottingham Forest star Jota Silva is reportedly edging closer to complete his switch to Olympiacos.

The winger spent last season on loan at Besiktas after a deadline day move to Portuguese giants Sporting CP collapsed due to an administrative error. Jota scored five goals and assisted one in 22 games in Turkey.

Now, the 26-year-old is on his way to Greece to link up with fellow Evangelos Marinakis-owned club. It was previously reported that the move was “in the final stages” and it now appears that the last boxes are being ticked.

Portuguese journalist Sebastiao Sousa-Pinto has reported that the forward is on his way to Amsterdam, where Olympiacos were holding their pre-season training camp, to undergo medical tests ahead of his move.

Jota is understood to have given the green light to his Forest after expressing his desire to work with head coach Jose Luis Mendilibar. However, it’s not yet clear whether the move to Greece is a permanent or loan deal.

Once the transfer is confirmed, he will join defender David Carmo in joining the Greek side.

Last month, the former Vitoria Guimaraes star opened up on his future and suggested that Vitor Pereira’s presence in the dugout could open the door to another chance in the Premier League. Pereira has since been sacked and replaced by Oliver Glasner.

“I hope so,” he said when asked about impressing Pereira in pre-season. “Vítor Pereira did a phenomenal job by securing Nottingham Forest’s survival with two or three games still left to play. He did it after taking over a team in a very difficult situation.

“From what I hear from my teammates, he managed to win over the group. The squad really likes the way the manager works and feels happy because they are playing attractive and exciting football. The performances have also been accompanied by results.”
