Leeds are unlikely to carry out an overhaul of the squad like last summer, but are looking to bring in upgrades in several areas of the team ahead of the 2026/27 season.
Leeds also need players to leave to make room for new arrivals, and the club have already decided on one high-profile signing from last summer.
Lucas Perri is free to leave Leeds United in the summer
Leeds signed Lucas Perri from Lyon last summer for a deal worth £14m, and he was expected to solve their goalkeeping woes in the Premier League.
However, the Brazilian has been hugely inconsistent between the sticks and has not played in the Premier League since the end of December.
Karl Darlow has effectively replaced him as the club’s number one, and he has only featured in cup games for Leeds in the last few months.
According to Sportsboom, Daniel Farke has felt underwhelmed by the Brazilian goalkeeper’s performances and wants to bring in a new number one.
It has been claimed that Perri is free to leave Leeds in the summer as he is not part of the manager’s plans going forward.
The Brazilian was seen as the answer to Leeds’ goalkeeping problems from last season. However, he has never really convinced in the Premier League.
It remains to be seen whether Leeds can recoup the money they paid for Perri last summer.
Karl Darlow is likely to be offered a new contract
The Welshman has not been flawless between the sticks. However, he has looked far more assured than Perri and has pulled off some great saves in big games.
He will be out of contract at Leeds next month, and the club are likely to offer him fresh terms to extend his stay at Elland Road.
Leeds would not want two completely new goalkeepers in the squad next season and would like to retain Darlow’s experience going forward.
He is also much more likely to accept a number 2 role at Leeds rather than Perri, with the club almost certain to bring in an upgrade in the summer window.
