‘We rate him highly’ – Brighton strongly hint new signing will be confirmed soon

All the latest transfer news for Brighton and Hove Albion and across the Premier League

Brighton are expected to complete the re-signing of Pascal Gross today.

The former Albion man is the club’s leading scorer in the Premier League and is set to complete his medical today.

Gross, 34, left Brighton in the summer of 2024 and signed for his boyhood club Borussia Dortmund for around £7m. He has made 11 league appearances for the Bundesliga club this season, starting seven games.

Albion head coach Fabian Hurzeler, speaking ahead of Saturday’s Premier League clash against Burnley, said: “We rate him highly.”

The German head coach also said he didn’t want his countryman to leave in 2024 and has stayed in contact with the midfielder.

Hurzeler added that he expects the German to have a “big impact” in the final third of the pitch. An area where the Seagulls have struggled this term.

The Albion boss did however caution: “He’s not our player. He’s a player from Dortmund.”

Hurzeler’s transfer talks with Bloom and Barber

Hurzeler also said he is in “daily” dialogue with chief executive and deputy chairman Paul Barber and chairman and owner Tony Bloom as the January transfer window gets underway.

The club also have to make decision on players currently out on loan, including Evan Ferguson at Roma and Facundo Buonanotte at Chelsea.
