The Kansas City Chiefs dynasty absolutely crumbled in the Super Bowl against the Philadelphia Eagles. On both sides of the ball, but we will all remember how dominant of a performance it was by Philly’s defense lead by Vic Fangio.
Let’s just keep it real, the Eagles defense absolutely owned the Chiefs in the Super Bowl. They sacked Patrick Mahomes six times without even needing a blitz.
Cooper DeJean hopped on The Pivot and got real about the beatdown. The rookie DB admitted they had some blitzes locked and loaded, but guess what? They never even had to use ‘em. The front four were wrecking shop so bad that Mahomes was running for his life, and the secondary had it all on lockdown. Pure domination.

“If you watch the game, we didn’t really have to [blitz], like those guys up front, they were doing their work. Those guys — Jordan Davis, Nolan Smith, [Josh] Sweat, [Brandon Graham] was in there running around, Jalen Carter, I mean, those guys are monsters. Makes it easy for us on the backend when you’ve got guys like that up front. We don’t have to rush, we can play zone or match coverage, and let those guys go to work.”
DeJean just adding salt to the wound here, and I’m all for it. We as Eagles fans, had to sit back these last couple years and watch Chiefs fans puff out their chests for barely beating us on that garbage field in the Super Bowl several years ago. And while I do feel like our defense was much more ill-prepared for that game, given the fact that Jonathan Gannon was our defensive coordinator; we really should have won that game.
Nonetheless, we got back on the saddle and got to work. A 40-22 victory over the Chiefs, where the game was never even close, is the best possible revenge. The wild part about all of this is the fact that this Eagles defense was loaded with several rookies and second-third year players. I’d watch out if I was the rest of the NFL.
Fangio’s Defense Isn’t Going Anywhere
Sure, Fangio’s got some work to do this offseason—especially if guys like Josh Sweat and Milton Williams dip in free agency. But let’s be honest, he’s still got a war chest up front. The Eagles won’t have to rely on blitzing much in 2025 because with this much talent, they won’t need to. Just unleash the dogs and watch ‘em feast.
