According to a report from the L.A. Times, sources close to the Lakers, though unauthorized to speak publicly, have indicated that LeBron James will not play in the team’s preseason opener against the Minnesota Timberwolves.
However, Coach J.J. Redick confirmed that both LeBron James and Anthony Davis are expected to play at some point over the weekend. This leaves room for the possibility of Redick surprising fans by giving the superstars some minutes in the season opener.

Given that LeBron spent the summer competing for the U.S. Olympic team, Redick’s cautious approach in managing their minutes ahead of the regular season seems wise.
