Galatasaray’s Baris Yilmaz has constantly been linked with a move to England and Nottingham Forest are now in the mix to sign him.

Last year, Sport Witness covered the Midlands club’s interest in the attacker. They made two formal offers but both were rejected by Galatasaray, who wanted €40m to sell him.

Nottingham Forest refused to reach that, leading to other clubs like Chelsea and West Ham joining the race.

The 2025/26 campaign saw Yilmaz live up to the hype. He contributed to 20 league goals, also scoring once in the Champions League.

Now, his situation is heating up once again.

Clubs lining up

Tuttomercatoweb report Gala are aware they can lose Yilmaz this summer. It is believed he is being pursued by several clubs in Italy, with Napoli and AS Roma especially keen.

Interest from English is back, with Nottingham Forest having made moves for him. Other Premier League sides are also in the picture, as evident from what has been reported in the last few months.

Gala, meantime, are already hunting for a replacement. They could seek a permanent deal for Noa Lang, who spent half of last season on loan from Napoli. He didn’t contribute to too many goals but his 1v1 ability was seen in Turkey.

Player’s progress clear to see

The 2025/26 campaign was arguably the best of Yilmaz’s career. He has kept growing at the Turkish giants and his numbers are evidence of that.

His ability to play multiple positions in attack could be a real positive for Nottingham Forest. Yilmaz boasts significant European experience, which can take the Midlands club’s attack to the next level.

The only problem could be Galatasaray’s asking price, which was €40m last year and there is every chance it is even higher now.
