Luka Doncic Describes Klay Thompson’s Crucial Role in the Mavs’ Title Chase
Luka Doncic is laser-focused this season with a clear goal: winning a championship, a task that now seems even more attainable with Klay Thompson joining the team.
When asked about Dallas’ strategy, Doncic simply stated, “Championship. That’s the goal.”
He believes Thompson will be a key piece in their title chase. “When Kai and I have the ball, you can’t leave Klay open,” Doncic said. “If you do, he’ll make the shot. Our spacing is going to be crucial, but I’ll have more to say after a few games.”

Kyrie Irving echoed Doncic’s optimism. “Our championship dreams feel possible now that Klay’s here,” Irving said, noting his role in recruiting Thompson. “He’s brought great value to our title hopes.”
Thompson, however, knows he’ll need time to adjust to a new system, different from the Warriors’. “Tactically, I’ll have to adapt to playing with such talented creators,” Thompson explained. “Golden State had a motion-based offense, but playing with Luka in the pick-and-roll has been amazing. He draws so much attention, creating open looks, and I’ll be ready to knock them down.”
