George Pickens leaves a gaping hole
Pickens was a mainstay at Pittsburgh, recording 59 receptions for 900 receiving yards, averaging 15.3 yards per catch, and scoring three receiving touchdowns in 2024. With him gone, the team needs a top-tier WR, especially since their acquisition of four-time NFL MVP and free agent Aaron Rodgers is on the line.
For Pickens and a 2027 6th-round pick, the Steelers received a 2026 3rd-round pick and a 2027 5th-round pick. The Cowboys now have a perfect WR2 to pair up with CeeDee Lamb.
With a gaping hole in Pittsburgh’s offense, Tyreek Hill might be a blockbuster option. The troubled Miami receiver was not at his best last season without Tua Tagovailoa throwing at him. The 31-year-old played in 17 games, recording 81 receptions for 959 yards, averaging 11.8 yards per catch, and scoring 6 receiving touchdowns. He also had 7 rushing attempts for 47 yards, with no rushing touchdowns in 2024.
Dolphins Applauded for Making Shedeur Sanders Decision in NFL Draft
Some have questioned why the Miami Dolphins didn’t select Shedeur Sanders when he fell in the draft. Selecting Quinn Ewers, there was clearly a plan for the Dolphins to find a backup quarterback for Tua Tagovailoa, despite signing Zach Wilson in the offseason.
Whether the Dolphins plan for Ewers is to be a practice squad quarterback remains to be seen. Still, Miami has to remember that it has dealt with multiple injuries to its star quarterback in recent years, and one wrong move could put the team without Tagovailoa.
Despite some questioning why the Dolphins didn’t make an effort to draft Sanders, Ryan Van Hoover of Dolphins Talk applauded them for not making the decision. He admitted that he was interested in the Dolphins selecting him, but after reports about his attitude, he wanted them to pass on him.
“However, the sense of entitlement, if true according to reports, is what really would turn me off. The Dolphins need players who want to play, get better, appreciate their opportunities, and not take things for granted. Shedeur seems to be a young player who feels entitled. The NFL is an opportunity, not an entitlement,” he wrote.
There could be a scenario in a decade where the Dolphins and all of their fans look back and are upset about their decision not to select Sanders.
However, fortunately, they wouldn’t be the only organization that would feel that way. Outside of the Cleveland Browns, who gave him an opportunity at pick 144, no one else wanted to do business with him or his father, Deion Sanders.
