Celtic’s Julian Araujo brutally dismisses Rangers’ antics as a ‘waste of time’ in perfect verdict
Celtic defender Julian Araujo has emphatically laughed off last weekend’s fiery post-match altercations at Ibrox, brutally dismissing Rangers’ physical antics as a complete ‘waste of time’.
Speaking ahead of Celtic’s second trip across the city, this time for a Scottish Cup quarter-final clash, the on-loan Bournemouth star refused to be drawn into any Rangers mind games following the touchline handbags that marred last Sunday’s 2-2 draw.
Martin O’Neill’s side came from 2-0 down to rescue a deserved point in one of the closest Scottish Premiership title races of all time, including a stoppage-time Reo Hatate goal, which seemed to irk those wearing blue, but Araujo had a brilliant response to it all.
“Kind of a waste of my time, to be honest,” said Araujo. “I don’t really care what they say or what they have to do.”

Two of the individuals at the centre of the pushing and shoving post-match on the Rangers side were Nico Raskin and Mikey Moore.
But as many would have seen from the footage, Araujo was just laughing in their faces, and it actually took a 74-year-old O’Neill to push everyone away.
Let’s be honest, supporters love a bit of antics, but whilst last week’s fixture ended in a draw, this time, there has to be a winner, even if it requires extra time and penalties.
One thing is for sure: Araujo understands the Glasgow derby, and why it’s ‘one of the most exciting in the world’, as he told Sky Sports Football.
Sky reporter: “What happened at the end when it all seemed to be kicking off? You tell us.”
Araujo: “Kind of a waste of my time, to be honest. I don’t really care what they say or what they have to do, to be honest.
“I think it’s just a heat of the moment. I think it’s just part of the game. This is why it’s one of the most exciting derbies in the world.”
