There is no credible information confirming that the San Francisco 49ers are finalizing a trade for Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Michael Pittman Jr. Recent reports indicate that Pittman Jr. is committed to the Colts for the foreseeable future, making such a move highly unlikely.

In March 2024, the Colts placed the non-exclusive franchise tag on Pittman Jr., allowing them to retain his rights while negotiating a long-term contract. This move was expected, given his importance to the Colts’ offense. Shortly after, in November 2024, Pittman Jr. signed a three-year contract extension worth up to $71.5 million, including $46 million in guaranteed money. This deal secures him with the Colts through the 2027 season. Given this significant financial commitment, it would be highly unusual for Indianapolis to trade him just months after signing him to an extension.

There are currently no official reports, announcements, or insider confirmations regarding a trade between the 49ers and Colts involving Pittman Jr. The rumored trade details—including a four-year, $125.8 million deal, $5 million in cash to Indianapolis, and multiple late-round draft picks in 2026 and 2028—appear to be unverified. Such compensation would also seem insufficient for a receiver of Pittman Jr.’s caliber, who has been a primary target for the Colts and one of their most productive offensive weapons.

Meanwhile, the 49ers have been making other roster moves in preparation for the upcoming season, but none involve acquiring Pittman Jr. Recently, the team finalized a trade for defensive lineman Khalil Davis and signed wide receiver Russell Gage to their practice squad. These transactions align with the 49ers’ current needs, as they look to bolster their defensive line and add depth at receiver.

Given Pittman Jr.’s recent contract extension, his role in the Colts’ offensive plans, and the lack of any credible reporting on a trade, it is safe to say that the news of him joining the 49ers is not accurate. The Colts are expected to rely heavily on Pittman Jr. as a key part of their receiving corps, particularly as they develop young quarterback Anthony Richardson.

Unless a verified source, such as the NFL, ESPN, or a reputable insider like Adam Schefter or Ian Rapoport, confirms the trade, this information should be regarded as speculation rather than fact. For now, Michael Pittman Jr. remains a key player for the Indianapolis Colts, and no trade with the San Francisco 49ers appears to be in the works.
