As one of the most popular players in the WNBA, Chicago Sky star Angel Reese inevitably faces her share of critics. As the saying goes, that’s the price of fame. While it’s impossible for Reese or anyone else to completely shield themselves from daily negativity and relentless criticism, the 22-year-old has found a way to turn it to her advantage.
The former LSU standout has managed to monetize the hate directed at her. On Wednesday, Reese took to Instagram to subtly address her naysayers, posting, “You know hating pays too??!”

Although Reese’s jab was indirect, it’s clear that it’s a veiled message to her critics. She has emerged as one of the most sought-after players in the league, securing endorsement deals with major brands like Reebok, Amazon, Airbnb, and Beats by Dre. Recently, she also signed a sponsorship agreement with the well-known candy brand Reese’s.
In addition to her impressive endorsements, Reese now hosts her own podcast, “Unapologetically Angel,” which is part of NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal’s “The Big Podcast” network. Reese acknowledges that she owes much of her success to her fans, but she also credits her critics for playing a role in her journey. As the saying goes, there’s no such thing as bad publicity—especially when it helps pay the bills.
