Chicago Sky forward Angel Reese has experienced a tumultuous month. Following her impressive rookie season, which ended abruptly due to a fractured wrist, the Sky missed the playoffs for the first time since 2018. In the aftermath, the team fired head coach Teresa Weatherspoon, leaving Reese heartbroken.

On September 26, she expressed her feelings on social media, saying, “I’m heartbroken. I’m literally lost for words knowing what this woman meant to me in such a pivotal point in my life. She was the only person that believed in me.”

As the 22-year-old works through her feelings about Weatherspoon’s departure and focuses on rehabilitating her wrist, she continues to release new episodes of her podcast, “Unapologetically Angel,” in collaboration with NBA legend and fellow LSU alum Shaquille O’Neal. Just before the latest episode aired, Shaq joined Reese on the court, where she placed a significant bet with the 15-time All-Star.

Reese wagered $100,000 that Shaq wouldn’t make a free throw shot, but he successfully sank it. “I guess I owe him 100K,” she shared on her Instagram Stories. Fans were astonished by the amount Reese bet against the four-time NBA champion, and the clip quickly gained traction on TikTok.

One commenter remarked, “That’s her whole contract,” while another pointed out, “Isn’t that her whole salary for 4 years?” A viewer added, “Chill… that’s most of your contract money.” Reese, who was the No. 7 overall pick in the 2024 WNBA Draft, signed a four-year contract worth $324,383 with the Sky.

However, the 6-foot-3 forward also has several lucrative sponsorship deals, including a major partnership with Reebok and sponsorship from Reese’s Pieces, along with one of the highest NIL deals during her time at LSU.
