Supercomputer has updated its prediction for the final 2026-27 Premier League table following the opening months of the new season.

Reigning champions Arsenal picked up where they left off last season, winning six of their opening seven fixtures.
Many were tipping Xabi Alonso’s Chelsea to challenge at the top of the table this season with no European football to contend with, but defeat away at Arsenal and Brentford, plus a home draw with Hull, suggests the Blues may not be quite ready just yet.
Man City are the only team to get seven wins from seven. However, the club’s future is firmly up in the air after being found guilty of breaking the Premier League’s financial regulations. They remain in the title race for now, after launching an appeal, but it’s currently unclear where they’ll be come the end of the season.
Amid the enormous controversy that threatens to cast a shadow over this season’s Premier League campaign, Opta’s Supercomputer has updated its predicted final 2026-27 table – and it makes for fascinating reading. Let’s take a closer look.
Relegation Zone
Sunderland have had a difficult start to the season after surprising everyone in their first campaign back in the top-flight. The Black Cats are currently expected to finish rock bottom of the table after picking up four points from their opening seven fixtures.
Just above them are Fulham, who earned encouraging draws against Liverpool and Manchester United before the international break, and recently earned their first league win of the campaign against Hull City.
Speaking of promoted Hull City, who weren’t given a chance before a ball was kicked this season, the Tigers currently occupy ninth spot in the real Premier League table. A drop down to 15th would still represent a successful campaign.
Instead, it’s another of the promoted clubs who are tipped to join Sunderland and Fulham in the Championship next season. However, Frank Lampard has already sealed two wins as Coventry City boss this term, so they’ll be aiming to prove Opta’s Supercomputer wrong over the coming weeks and months.
Just above the relegation zone sit Nottingham Forest (project points: 42) and Crystal Palace (projected points: 43). Palace’s relegation odds have increased after they were hammered 5-0 by rivals Brighton – a result which has reportedly left their manager Pierre Sage fighting for his job.
| Position | Club | Points |
|---|---|---|
| 15. | Hull City | 44 |
| 16. | Crystal Palace | 44 |
| 17. | Nottingham Forest | 43 |
| 18. | Coventry City | 41 |
| 19. | Fulham | 40 |
| 20. | Sunderland | 40 |
Bottom Half
Tottenham have only picked up six points from their opening seven league fixtures, leaving them just above the relegation zone. However, Opta’s Supercomputer has seen enough evidence to suggest Spurs should avoid the drop. A 13th-placed finish would still be a poor campaign based on the club’s huge summer expenditure.
Ipswich Town, Newcastle United and Bournemouth are also tipped to finish inside the bottom half of the table after inconsistent starts to the campaign.
Newcastle have looked okay under Matthias Jaissle, whose side are expected to finish the season in 12th place, which would be a reasonable achievement following such a turbulent summer at St James’ Park. While Bournemouth are struggling to kick on after finishing last season in sixth position.
| Position | Club | Points |
|---|---|---|
| 11. | Bournemouth | 48 |
| 12. | Newcastle United | 48 |
| 13. | Tottenham Hotspur | 46 |
| 14. | Ipswich Town | 45 |
Top Half
Everton are tipped to finish 10th – another season of mid-table obscurity beckons for the Toffees – while Leeds United are expected to finish one player higher in ninth.
Many pundits and fans alike have tipped Manchester United to finish inside the top four again this season, but the Supercomputer has the Red Devils down in eighth place following another draw against Leeds United. Michael Carrick’s only league win so far this season came against Ipswich Town in August.
Keith Andrews and Brentford continue to defy the odds. They are being tipped to finish seventh – their highest ever finish in England’s top tier – following a fine start to the campaign.
Aston Villa had a disastrous start to the season after three defeats in their first four games. But Unai Emery’s team now have eight points on the board and are finally clicking into gear.
Chelsea are expected to finish fifth with 60 points following back-to-back league wins over Bournemouth and Everton. The Blues’ front three of Joao Pedro, Cole Palmer and Morgan Rogers has the potential to become the most formidable forward line in the league.
| Position | Club | Points |
|---|---|---|
| 5. | Chelsea | 60 |
| 6. | Aston Villa | 55 |
| 7. | Brentford | 52 |
| 8. | Manchester United | 51 |
| 9. | Leeds United | 51 |
| 10. | Everton | 50 |
Top Four
Liverpool are fourth in the predicted table following an impressive away win over Brentford. There’s plenty of work for Andoni Iraola to do at Anfield this season, but having Alexander Isak, who has five goals in six games, back will certainly help.
Brighton are currently tipped to finish third after a sensational 5-0 win over Crystal Palace. No team has scored more goals (23) than the Seagulls, who are well and truly flying.
Under-fire Manchester City boast a 100% winning record without Pep Guardiola in the Premier League. The Citizens look almost unstoppable under Enzo Maresca, with Erling Haaland and Rayan Cherki flying, although the guilty verdict threatens to derail their season.
Every away ground is expected to become incredibly hostile towards the eight-time Premier League champions, who will need to adopt a siege mentality in order to finish as high up the table as possible. Opta’s Supercomputer currently believes City will push Arsenal right to the wire, although that prediction could completely change depending on the result of the appeal.
Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal remain the Supercomputer’s narrow favourites to lift the Premier League trophy, although their predicted points tally was slashed following a 3-0 defeat to Brighton. The Gunners are now tipped to finish the campaign just above Erling Haaland and co.
| Position | Club | Points |
|---|---|---|
| 1. | Arsenal | 79 |
| 2. | Manchester City | 78 |
| 3. | Brighton | 66 |
| 4. | Liverpool | 63 |
Data is correct as of 20/10/2026.
