Capello has cautioned Inter about the upcoming challenge in Udine, stating, “It’s not going to be an easy match because Inter will encounter a team looking to bounce back after their loss in Rome,” he noted in his column for La Gazzetta dello Sport via FcInterNews. He added, “The same applies to Inter after the derby defeat. I believe the Nerazzurri need to regroup mentally.”
The former coach stressed the importance of humility for Inter’s players, suggesting that the team’s leaders have been somewhat complacent in Serie A thus far. “Inter must regain the humility and desire they once had, like they showed in England against Manchester City in the Champions League. You could only see that spirit in the first 25 minutes against Milan. Inter could end up being their own worst enemies.”
Capello emphasized that this mindset can occur after winning a league title and that it’s crucial for the team to start fresh. He remarked, “The key players, particularly the leaders, have been complacent in Serie A until now.”
Additionally, Capello expressed concerns about Simone Inzaghi’s extensive rotation policy, suggesting it may confuse players. “Inzaghi’s turnover is excessive, and such a large-scale rotation can create confusion in the players’ minds. While I acknowledge Inter has a strong squad with depth, the coach needs to communicate that everyone is important. There’s an appropriate time for rotation.”
