Embarrassing’ – Alan Shearer turns the air blue with raging Newcastle United message v Leeds
Newcastle United were 3-0 down against Leeds United at half-time.
The Magpies went behind to an Ao Tanaka strike before Jayden Bogle and Dominic Calvert-Lewin put the hosts in a commanding position at the break at Elland Road.
Newcastle are on course to suffer their first defeat of the new season and first loss under new head coach Matthias Jaissle.
And Shearer couldn’t hide his disappointment with his former club as the Newcastle legend took to X to write: “An absolute —- show from the Toon. 3-0 at HT is embarrassing.”
The scorline has very much added insult to injury with Newcastle losing Nico Gonzalez to a head injury early in the match while the score was still 0-0. Ahead of the match, an injury blow to Anthony Elanga was also confirmed with the winger set for an MRI scan next week.
Jaissle said to Sky Sports ahead of the match: “It could be long term. He will get another MRI next week and we will see.”
Should Leeds hold out for three points, they would move up to third while Newcastle drop to 12th with five points from their opening four matches.
Next up for Newcastle is newly-promoted and unbeaten Hull City at St James’ Park on Saturday.
