Newcastle United have continued their major squad reconstruction under new manager Matthias Jaissle, with the club completing the signing of Bosnian international full-back Amar Dedić from Benfica for a reported £29.5 million on August 18, 2026.
The 24-year-old has signed a five-year contract and will wear the No. 37 shirt, becoming the sixth senior signing of Jaissle’s first summer in charge.
With sporting director Ross Wilson and Jaissle reshaping the squad, Newcastle have spent more than £165 million on new arrivals, while several established players now face uncertain futures at St James’ Park.
According to The Athletic, three Newcastle players could still be heading for the exit door this summer.

Nick Pope appears to be one of the clearest candidates to leave Newcastle under Jaissle.
The 34-year-old goalkeeper has reportedly been left out of every matchday squad under the new manager, with Lukas Hornicek and Ewen Jaouen currently ahead of him in the goalkeeping pecking order.
After previously being an important part of Newcastle’s squad during Eddie Howe’s tenure, Pope’s situation has changed dramatically under Jaissle.
With the new manager seemingly willing to move forward without him, Newcastle could sanction his departure this summer if a suitable offer arrives.
Joe Willock is another player whose Newcastle future remains in doubt.
The 26-year-old midfielder has only 11 months remaining on his current contract, and Newcastle are reportedly expecting interest from clubs looking to secure his services.
Beşiktaş are among the clubs linked with a possible move, while Willock did enough during pre-season to remind potential suitors of his ability.
However, with Newcastle rebuilding under Jaissle and the midfielder entering the final year of his contract, a summer departure remains a realistic possibility.
Jacob Murphy is also facing an uncertain future at St James’ Park.
The 31-year-old winger is entering the final year of his contract, and Newcastle are reportedly willing to listen to offers for him.
Murphy has nevertheless continued to demonstrate his usefulness, providing the assist for Will Osula’s goal against Strasbourg over the weekend.
Despite that contribution, his age, contract situation and Jaissle’s squad reconstruction could make him one of the players Newcastle are prepared to part ways with this summer.
Meanwhile, Lewis Hall is not currently considered a likely departure, despite interest from Manchester United. Newcastle are reportedly standing firm on the 21-year-old, with Ross Wilson adamant that Hall is not for sale.
Hall has established himself as an automatic starter under Jaissle and is considered an excellent fit for the German manager’s tactical system.
With the transfer window approaching its final stages, Newcastle could therefore see Pope, Willock and Murphy leave the club as Jaissle continues to ruthlessly reshape his squad.
