Leeds United midfielder Ethan Ampadu has suddenly become something of a transfer talking point amongst neutrals that haven’t been watching him all season.
After Leeds’ promotion from the Championship, it was always going to be a battle to hit the ground running in the Premier League. Daniel Farke needed the core of his title-winning squad to step up to the plate, and they’ve done just that.
At the heart of it all has been Ethan Ampadu. The club captain’s consistent brilliance ever since he set foot in Elland Road has jumped up another level this season, shining in the Premier League.
Ampadu’s performance away to Spurs, in front of the Monday Night Football cameras, unsurprisingly caught the eye of neutrals.
Many were blown away by his latest performance. And, it was suggested that he could be in line for a big summer move after guiding Leeds to safety.
His contract is up in a year’s time, although Leeds have the option of extending to 2028. But, the midfielder has only one focus on his mind as he scooped up the club’s Player of the Season award, as well as the Player’s Player of the Season.
“Hello to all the Leeds fans out there,” Ampadu said on LUFC’s socials. “I just want to say a massive thank you for this award tonight.
“I think it could have gone to anyone, honestly. It’s been such a good year for us all and I just want to say a massive thank you for the support throughout the season.
“You have been amazing as always through the ups and downs, as you have been throughout the country. Hopefully, we can finish off well on Sunday and look forward to a big start next season.”

If it was ever in any doubt whether Ampadu would be here next season, this clears it up nicely.
He absolutely loves it here. And, the fact he’s bounced around through multiple temporary spells during his youth means Leeds will be seen as his home.
We all know with relative certainty that he’s not going to leave. That being said, the club needs to act to sort out his contract as soon as possible.
Players of his calibre and stature within the club are incredibly rare. So, getting him a contract that represents how important he is should be seen as the top priority.
Thankfully, we know the club have already held talks and are continuing to do so this month.
