Aston Villa could be set to oversee another key departure from their ranks in the coming weeks, according to reports – with Emiliano Martinez having a price tag placed upon him, meaning a January move hasn’t been ruled out.

Villa have already sold Donyell Malen this window to Roma for £25million, and although they’ve landed the likes of Alysson and Brian Madjo, it’s clear that there has been an importance placed upon sales.

That could see more players depart Unai Emery’s squad in the transfer window – and an exit for first-choice star Martinez is not off the cards, with reports suggesting that Villa have agreed upon a price tag for his services.

The report by Football Insider states that Villa have placed a £40million price tag upon Martinez if he is to depart Villa Park in the January transfer window – and they could be prepared to accept offers by the time the market closes.

The ‘world-class’ 33-year-old star is attracting interest from the likes of Inter Milan, Manchester United and more, despite any exit from Villa Park having failed to materialise over the summer months.

Unai Emery could be open to letting his ‘world-class’ stopper leave if they receive an acceptable offer, especially with Martinez showing some inconsistent form at times this season, though it’s unclear so far as to who Villa would bring in.

Martinez is evidently one of the best goalkeepers in the Premier League, and potentially the world, having made his 200th Premier League appearance for the Villans in their 2-0 win over Newcastle United on Sunday that took them to within four points of the title.

However, he will be 34 at the start of next season and if Villa can pick up £40million for the World Cup winner, it would represent incredible business if they then opt to bring in a younger star for clear progression.
